Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in the Lake District UK while we were away celebrating my husbands 40th, it was one of the coldest winters we have had for a long time. His birthday is 22/12 so it was very close to Xmas.

Time

We were out for lunch and decided to have a walk before we ate. This little chap had followed us all the way round the Lake so there was good opportunity to take some pictures of him,it was about 1pm

Lighting

I wanted the background to reflect the redness of his chest against the cool crisp of the branches, the red just made him pop off the branch.

Equipment

I used a Sony alpha no Tripod no gadgets just plain straight shooting. This shot is what made me pursue photography as a hobby and upgrade my kit.

Inspiration

The sheer beauty of the surroundings and the sweet nature of this little chap made me want to get a really good close up of him/her

Editing

I didn’t really understand processing at the time just cropped it slightly my skills are now improving with regards to this

In my camera bag

Now I carry two lenses, two batteries, a couple of filters, I keep it very simple.

Feedback

Just go for it, take a few shots in different lights and at different angles the magic happens when you least expect it, keep working and the improvements will come
