Behind The Lens

Location

The shot was taken on the Heroe’s Square in Budapest. At the entrance of the Hall of Art.

Time

Late afternoon so the sun was shining from the right direction. We were surrounded by a small crowd of people because even alive a fragile girl and a Cane Corso just looked great! :)

Lighting

The lighting was very simple: I used the Sun. I liked very much the shadow of the building falling on the modell just a tiny bit to give more dimension to the composition.

Equipment

Mamiya RZ67 Pro II medium format film camera Mamiya APO-Sekor Z 210mm f4,5 lens Kodak Ektar 100 film Vanguard AltaPro 263 AGH tripod

Inspiration

I tend to gravitate toward the contrasty looks but not only in the composition but also in the story. I mean what a contrast of a small fragile girl and one of the biggest and wildest looking dog !? And yet still she is strong enough to keep under controll the "beast". Women are stronger than we might think.

Editing

The scanned color negative was turned black & white.

Feedback

I think the most important is to have a story. To have something to tell with your image. I see lot of beautiful photos here with no meaning with no story. Those photos are pointless because doesn't make you feel anything. If you get the story you can build up the entire scene around it. Just use your imagination!
