I took this photo at the Skagit Valley Tulip festival a few years ago. It was my first (and so far, only) time going.Time
It was some time around midday. The Festival is a few hours drive from home so it took awhile.Lighting
The lighting was actually difficult, being midday on a bright sunny day. I was shooting in raw for the first time and it probably helped tone down the light and bring out the colors in post.Equipment
Shot on a Nikon, probably my old d60. The lens was a sigma 70-300.Inspiration
I really like finding the different and imperfect and trying to capture it. At the tulip festival there were fields and fields of flowers, all the same. Occasionally you’d come across something like this and this one just stood out to me shouting to be captured.Editing
Yes, shooting in RAW required it in order to bring out the colors. I use Lightroom, I find it easier to use and more user friendly for those who don’t have the inclination for post-processing.In my camera bag

Just keep an eye out for the different, the unbalanced, the asymmetrical. Nature is rarely perfect.
