Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo near our farm near Fargo, ND. It's of my puppy, Axl. :-)

Time

I took this photo around sunset.

Lighting

I took it as two separate exposures, and then I combined the exposures together in photoshop so I would get good shadows, while still keeping the sunset colors look good.

Equipment

I think I used a Canon 70D and a polarizing filter.

Inspiration

I was in the field helping my dad (I'm fourteen years old), and then I just thought it would be so much fun to take a picture of my super cute puppy. So, I got down really low and took the picture of my dog smiling.

Editing

I took it as two separate exposures, and then I combined the exposures together in photoshop so I would get good shadows, while still keeping the sunset colors look good.

In my camera bag

Filters, my camera, tripod, lenses, remote shutter, extra batteries and memory cards, and photography books.

Feedback

Try to remember to take it in raw, and make sure you get good shadows and highlights by taking to exposures and combining them together. Take one with a well exposed dog, and another with the Sky, and then blend them together in photoshop. Getting down really low when you take the photo is a really cool angl to try, too. Good luck!
