Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken on the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. This black sand beach was once residence of four Hawaiian Kings, including the Great King Kamahameha. The hotel in the background has since been removed and the ancient ruins are in the process of being restored.
Time
Taken at dusk February 2017
Lighting
The colours of the sunset were starting to spread across the sky, while the luminescent clouds were a blue that I had never seen before.
Equipment
EOS 7D Mark II, EFS 18-55mm IS II
Inspiration
Grabbed the camera when I noticed the moody sky with an unusual mixture of the turquoise reflection on the lagoon and purple tones in the sky, attributed to the violent storm that had just passed through.
Editing
I shoot in raw and although the colours were enhanced in Lightroom, they are natural.
In my camera bag
I only own 3 lenses, EFS 18-55mm IS II, EF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS USM, for rodeo EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 ISII USM, Opteka Monopod to stabilize camera, which also serves as walking aid and self defense against animal attacks, spare memory card and spare battery .
Feedback
Always have your gear charged and lens mounted ready to shoot, as you never know when a perfect opportunity will present itself, which can disappear in seconds.
