Location
The Star Mine Suspension Bridge is a 117 metre long pedestrian suspension bridge which crosses the Red Deer River in Rosedale, just outside of Drumheller, Alberta.Time
Following an appointment with a client, I was taking my camera for a drive, stopping in at various points of interest along the way. This was taken on June 16, 2016 at 2:30 in the afternoon.Lighting
It was a bright sunny day with the light coming from a slight angle, reflecting off the metal on the bridge and drawing out the desert colours of the badland hills in the background.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 7D Mark II, with an EF-S 18-55 lens shot at 1/50 sec, F11, ISO 100. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I love photographing bridges, but attempt to shoot them at unique angles that have not been done before. In this case I was flat on the ground, bracing the camera on the floor of the bridge to hold it steady.Editing
Minor adjustments in lightroom - contrast, white & black, clarity, vibrance, saturation, and noise reduction. In my camera bag
I usually work in the field so I pack light - 7D Mark II, Canon EF-S 18-55 and EF 70-300 lenses, Spare batteries, extra memory cards, and 320EX Speedlite flash.Feedback
Try different perspectives; shoot from above/below, lie down, look for shadows or reflections, and move around. Changing the angle can make a huge difference in the impact of a photo.
