This cave is located in the municipality of Dauis, Panglao, Bohol, Philippines. This cave is a naturally lighted cavern which has many large stalactites, stalagmites and a deep lagoon. The water in this lagoon is a little bit salty because the water is a mixture of fresh and salty water that comes from the series of vents underneath the lagoon.
It is made of limestone and is about 100 metres long. The entrance can only fit one person of about 1 metre wide in diameter. Concrete steps lead to the interior of the cave. The cave is also home of small birds, the sunlight that enters the three big holes in the ceiling makes the cave unsuitable home for bats.
Hinagdanan Cave was accidentally discovered by the owner of the land. One day, the owner was clearing the area of decaying branches and discovered the holes in it. He then throw a stone on one of the hole and heard splash afterwards. Then he build a ladder to get into the cave. They named the cave "Hinagdanan", means "laddered" which comes from the root word "Hagdan" that mean ladder in its local dialect, that was used to get into the cave's interior.
