Samango Monkey

This particular species is only found in the Cape Vidal & northern Mpumalanga Region of South Africa reaching into the borders of Zimbabwe & Mozamique.

The other species is found in the Eastern Cape upwards to the Midlands of Kwa Zulu Natal.

Unfortunately the monkeys population are becoming very vulnerable due to deforestation. They are only found in afromontane & coastal forests.

There is only 1 adult male in a troop consisting of between 14 - 32 individuals which are females, babies & juveniles. The adult male will stay with the troop for about 3 years before another adult male comes into the troop.
