One Saturday afternoon, my friend and I were looking out the window of his house when we spotted this owl sitting on low tree branch. He appeared to be resting, although I am surprised he'd choose that noisy and open location to do any napping. They are typically very benign; I was able to get about six or eight feet away without any difficulty. It was quite a treat to spend an hour with this bird in such peaceful communion, taking photographs of him from all angles while he made nary a move.
