Location
This photo was taken at our favourite holiday location, Newgale Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales. We head here every year to go camping and enjoy days on the beach and some fabulous sunsetsTime
I took this shot as we walked back across the beach as the sun set on our way back to our campsiteLighting
I was set up for capturing one of the best sunsets of the holiday, my little lad and his grandad started playing in front of me so I was able to capture them silhouetted with the setting sun behindEquipment
I used a Nikon D7100 with a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens, mounted on a tripodInspiration
I love shooting landscapes, especially sunrises and sunsets, but capturing special family moments that bring back wonderful memories of happy times together really make photography worthwhile. I was lucky enough to capture the momentEditing
I used Photoshop to adjust the shadows, contrast and highlights. I wanted to sharpen the image but wanted to keep the movementIn my camera bag
I'm a real beginner so don't have much kit to carry around with me. I use a Nikon D7100 and love the Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens I have. I also have a Nikon 18-105mm which offers great versatility, can go wide or zoom in for more detail. I have a Sigma 70-300mm telephoto lens which is a good option for when I'm taking family shots, can capture candid close ups without being intrusive. I use a selection of filters, and I have recently upgraded my tripod to a Vanguard 265AB Travel model.Feedback
The image really captures the fun we all had on our holiday that year, and to me that's what photography is all about. This photo brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. I try to have my camera with me as much as possible, ready to capture these magic moments.
