The Cliffs Of Moher (County Clare, Ireland)

The Cliffs of Moher are one of Mother Nature's most spectacular creations!
They are located at the southwestern edge of the Burren Region in County Clare, Ireland. They span across eight miles (12.8 km) along the Wild Atlantic Way and are 320 MILLION years old! They rise 390 feet (120 meters) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head and reach their maximum height of 702 feet (214 meters) near the midpoint of the cliffs at Knockarden, just north of O'Brien's Tower, a round stone tower near the midpoint of the cliffs built by Sir Cornelius O'Brien in 1835.
The Cliffs of Moher are not the highest cliffs in Ireland, but they are the steepest due to its rocks which were formed by the type of sediments that ancient rivers laid down on the sea bed - sandstone, siltstone and shale.
