Guadence is an amazing guide who has worked on Mount Kilimanjaro for many years and in conversation he estimates that he has summited to Uhuru Peak over 200 times. He is a quiet man with a very strong and steady presence that gives those around him a sense of confidence that they too can tackle the enormous task of climbing this mountain. Both his strength and compassion were witnessed by our group on day 4-9 when altitude sickness was starting to effect several individuals within the group. After a full day of walking himself he then escorted one of our climbers down off of the mountain and accompanied her to Arusha where they arrived around midnight. The following evening when we arrived at our next camp who was there to join us again but Guadence who had turned around and walked all the way back up the mountain to join back up with our group. These men are amazing at what they can accomplish and they do it with so much care, concern and compassion for the individuals they are escorting.
