Location
I took this photo through our back sliding glass door. Rosaline, the squirrel, is sitting on the handle of a basket. We live in Maine.Time
I don't remember for sure, but probably midday. I was homeschooling my kids at the time and would often snap photos of the birds or the squirrels during our down time.Lighting
Mostly this is natural lighting. I may have enhanced it some in editing, but I don't do a lot during my editing process.Equipment
I have a basic Nikon D3300 and I used the long lens that came with it. I'm a beginner photographer so all my good shots are pure luck.Inspiration
Animals are my favorite things to photograph, besides my two daughters. I love wildlife and I love to try to capture their amazing qualities. I think this squirrel is very beautiful and I love the curious expression and the way she's looking around and being cautious.Editing
I don't remember but I don't do a lot of editing. I sometimes enhance the light a little, sometimes try a filter, but usually not much. I have very basic editing software, whatever came with the computer. I would love to learn more about editing in the future. In my camera bag
I only have my camera, the two lenses that came with it, and the basic cleaning supplies. I rarely carry a tripod or anything else.Feedback
I'm a beginner, so I'm not sure if this is good advice, but I don't usually wait for the right moment to take a photo. I take a ton of photos and weed them out later. I can sometimes spend an hour taking 400 photos and then go through and pick out five that I really like. I definitely have a lot to learn but I'm having a lot of fun along the way.
