Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken just after leaving the train station in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I really wanted to capture all the folks who stick their heads and bodies out the doors and windows to cool themselves down as the train barrels down the track.

Time

Sometime in the midday or afternoon when the heat was bad and the sun cast a hazy light through the smog of the city.

Lighting

Nope

Equipment

The camera I had at the time was an entry level Nikon.

Inspiration

I grew up reading National Geographic stories. My favorite photos were always the ones that told stories. Photos that give you a hint of life somewhere and leave you with a want to learn more.

Editing

I remember using and older version of Lightroom to edit this photo. I probably lowered the highlights a darkened the shadows. On this shot I think I upped the saturation a bit as well.

In my camera bag

I don’t have a bag to put equipment in.

Feedback

Don’t be afraid of putting yourself in possibly hairy situation to get the framing you want. Just make sure your confident and know you’ll be safe.
