Behind The Lens

Location

A favorite spot amongst Southern Michigan wildlife photographers is Kensington Metro Park.

Time

I woke up early to drive the 1 1/2 hours to Kensington Metro Park for a day of shooting. That particular morning there was a slight frost and quite a bit of activity from all the wild life. People frequently sit on these benches, arms outstretched, palms up with bird seed or nuts and the birds will land in their palms and scoop up the morsels. No one was around but this Red Bellied Woodpecker was begging for some treats. I was fortunate enough to capture this image just before he landed.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D750 and Nikon 200-500mm lense.

Editing

Minimal post editing. Lightning was good. Some cropping and basic adjustments.

In my camera bag

2 camera bodies, multiple lenses, tripod, release, etc

Feedback

“Luck Happens to those who are prepared”. Time spent outdoors will inevitably put you in these situations.
