Location
This photo was taken at a beautiful nature preserve near ottumwa IATime
I was hiking in the preserve around early evening in the late summer.Lighting
The afternoon light painted this Monarch butterflies wings such a rich color it was an amazing chance to capture this shot.Equipment
I used a canon EOS t3i with a wide angle lens no filter.Inspiration
I'm an environmental education instructor, so I love taking any chance I can to showcase endangered wildlife, one of the best ways to do that is through photography. I can then show my students what different critters look like in their natural habitat.Editing
I didn't do really any editing on this. I adjusted the exposer so that it would be less washed out but that's basically it.In my camera bag
I always travel with a macro lens and a zoom lens, you never know what your going to find. A long with a foldable tripod and some cleaning equipment in case weather attacks.Feedback
Patience is key when trying to capture any wildlife shots, especially flying insects. Find a spot you think they'll flock to and wait.
