Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in San Sebastian, Spain, where I live.

Time

We were a group of colleagues heading out for lunch on a rainy day. We actually have a photo competition at work every month and this was one of the first photos I took to enter it. Everyone was laughing at me for stopping and taking this photo but something about the water drops on this leaf made me stop.

Lighting

I took a few shots trying to avoid any kind of reflection of me or my colleagues in it but I was mostly focused on the droplets to be honest.

Equipment

I actually took this photo with my phone, a Samsung s7 edge.

Inspiration

I wanted to send a nice photo for the competition but wasn't actually looking for it. It caught my eye so I had to stop and take it. That's usually how I take my photos and I'm lucky enough to have a pretty good camera on my phone as I don't always have the possibility to carry around my 2 cameras + lenses.

Editing

I have not done anything else to it. I was pretty happy by the way it came out so I decided to leave it that way.

In my camera bag

Because I'm such a rookie and I just love it, when I do carry my equipment around I take it all with me but I end up using mostly 2 lenses for my canon, 18-135mm and my 50mm. Since I got myself this last one, I can't live without it. I have also started shooting Polaroids again, forgot how much fun that was!

Feedback

I guess the only advice I can give is to always keep your eyes open to photo opportunities even when you don't have your camera with you. Don't hesitate if something catches your eye, take the photo, you can always delete it later if you're not happy.
