Photo was taken at the back of my unit on the spur of the moment. Back fence with the neighbours side of unit for a backdrop.Time
4:30 pm 15/01/2017 in the heat of the afternoon, a storm was moving through.Lighting
Overcast and rain no sun what so ever with the occasional lightning. Took the photo from under a canvas BBQ setting umbrella. Which created a fine mist of water over the lens glass which had to be wiped between shots.Equipment
Olympus Omd em-5, Lens, M.Zuiko 75-300mm telephoto, Aperture: 64/10, ISO: 320, Shutter Speed: 1/250, Focal Length: 246/1Inspiration
I was processing and uploading photos from the day before, there was a storm on the way with heavy rain. My wife came up stairs to tell me about the Spotted Dove sitting on the fence in the rain. I felt really sorry for him but also relived as he appeared to be enjoying the shower after a long hard, hot day. The photo was a challenge in as much as being under a canvas umbrella there was very little time between shots that I could not see through the lens from water on the lens.Editing
The only post processing was in google nik with exposure and brightness / contrast. In my camera bag
M.Zuiko 14-42mm, 45mm, 60mm Macro, 40-150mm and 75-300mm. Tripod, filters Cable release, interval timer. A Flash that is rarely used. I have a smaller bag which I use just for local shots and usually take 1 to 3 lenses depending on where I am going.Feedback
Be prepared for anything, all types of Weather. The diversity of colours and situations. I try to plan ahead for each trip / photo session however on this occasion I had to think on my feet. as its amazing how the weather and light can change your idea on the move. Don’t be afraid to move around using sneaker focus as it could mean the difference between a good shot and a great shot.
