Discovered this site in the summer of 2015, while working on the archaeology crew at El Malpais National Monument. Long hot days hiking over jagged lava rock make you appreciate a little overcast, however, thunderstorms in this harsh environment are a whole different beast. This eerie landscape lies at the edge of a large kipuka, which encircled multiple historic native american settlements and artifacts.
