I discovered this little lacewing spread out in my dog's waterbowl outside, motionless. I reached my finger underneath the tiny delicate insect and lifted him up to safety, hoping that once he wasn't so waterlogged he would be revived as I had discovered seemed to work for several other insects which would fall into my puppy's outside waterbowl. Within a few moments I was rewarded with motion from my new little friend. He clung to my finger and I cupped my hand around him to block the breeze which threatened to blow him off. He seemed to appreciate the gestures and began to preen himself slowly and methodically. I wanted to photograph him but was worried he might take flight inside my house if I went inside to grab my camera. I decided to chance it and scurried inside to grab my DSLR. It was a bit awkward trying to set my white balance and shoot while he was resting on my dominant hand. I was sure that nothing would be in sharp focus. I tried to coax the little lacewing to climb onto a stick or column but he seemed quite content on my finger. Such a cute little guy.
