Kelso Dunes

I usually focus on black and white landscapes but here's The General in color, taking a rest - enjoying the sunset. We're in the middle of absolute nowhere. Seriously, north, east, south, west. 45 square miles (120 km2) of dune area which includes migrating dunes, vegetation-stabilized dunes, sand sheets, and sand ramps. The tallest dune on the left side of the photo, behind The General, rises up to 700 feet (213 m) above the surrounding terrain.
