Location
I took this photo in a nature area near my home. A place where exces water from the river waal can overflow.Time
it was a cold sunny december morning.Lighting
the sun was still quite low and only lit the bird and the reed. This made for a beutiful colour contrast, as the shadow was very cold colour temperature. And that made the bird stand out in the image.Equipment
i shot this phot handheld, as i do with most of my wildlife photos. The photograph was shot on a nikon d7200 with a 150-600mm sigma lens.Inspiration
i love birds, watching them brings peace to my mind. And capturing an image what can give me peace is the bigest callenge. If i can look to an image and get calm so i keep watching is the best thing in a photograph.Editing
For this shot not a whole lot of post-processing was needed. The image looked almost like this in camera just a bit of cleaning up, thats it.In my camera bag
My nikon d7200 and sigma 150-600mm are standardt in my bag. And depending on the location i go to i put a tamron 180mm maco, 10-24mm and a sigma 35mm f1,4 in my bag.Feedback
my advice is go early in the day. so most people are still sleeping. So birds roam further and after sleep birds need to eat so they are more active.
