It is a Pekinese, which can also be spelt Pekingese. They are a breed from China and used to be the Chinese royal dogs. I mean to say - pretty fearsome for guarding the royal palace!

I should add that in fact Adam and his half-brother, Dio (in another image), actually come from Russia. They have become one of the top breeding nations for Pekineses now.

Yes, there is a bit of similarity to Shih Tzus, but still quite distinctive.
