Rick Steves calls Rothenburg "Germany's Fairy-Tale Dream Town" which, translated, means huge tourist trap. But, it is beautiful, medieval, and, if you look hard, there off the beaten path things you can experience. This isn't one of them, but it is my favorite spot in Rothenburg. This is the Burgtor which was built (I think) in 1356 and is located on the western edge of the walled city. It is part of the Castle Garden...of which said castle, built in 1142 was destroyed by earthquake in 1356. .
