Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is part of the Houses of Parliament building, London.

Time

The photo was taken on the 10th April 2008 at 14.26 pm. It was a cloudy day, in fact almost stormy, until the sun suddenly broke out on several occasions, at one point as i was approaching the Houses of Parliament along the River Thames, so i quickly took a few snap shots before the good light disappeared. The building was nicely lit by the bright light even if the sky still looked a little daunting.

Lighting

This was an off the cuff point and shoot as the weather was not giving me a chance to determine light very well.

Equipment

Taken with my Fuji Finepix S7000. No tripod or filters

Inspiration

I love the old buildings in London. I'm quite patriotic about our Capitals landmarks

Editing

I did use photoshop to lighten up the building a little as the overcast weather was making some of the corners and niches a little dark

In my camera bag

I used to just have my Fuji Finepix, a few filters and a tripod. These days, i have a Nikon D5300 with tripod, filters and multiple lenses. Being old school, i generally use the camera in manual mode as i prefer the more 'chosen' options for a little more character in my images.

Feedback

Architecture isn't just about capturing a lovely building. Sometimes it is all about the angle of the shot, even if the image is just a partial shot of the building...as long as it shows off the detail..the corners and niches and character.
