The photo was taken in Valletta, during a commercial job I had. I had three models to shoot in jewellery and handbags.Time
The time was around 5pm in summer time. Since it is very hot in Malta during summer we had to plan this shoot late in the afternoon.Lighting
The clients wanted the jewellery shoot to show Malta, so I had to light the model correctly with a Canon speedlight in a softbox but I also needed to use the natural light for the background and model.Equipment
The equipment I used was a Canon 5D MKIII with Canon lens f/4L 24-105mm, a light stand, 30" softbox and a Canon Speedlight 600 EX-RT and a helper to mange the light for me.Inspiration
When I was asked for this job it all came to me fast to shoot in Valletta the capital city of Malta which also happens to be the EU Cultural Capital 2018. I love shooting around Valletta so knowing the place very well it was easy for me to picture where I am going to shoot this job.Editing
Post Processing was very minimal. Just cleaned some spots with Content Aware Tool and Dodged and Burned a bit and some contrast. I believe in taking the shot as good as possible so you dont spend much time behind a comuter editing. I prefer to be outdoors shooting then sitting inside editing. In my camera bag
I am a photo journalist which is totally different from Fashion lol. In my bag I carry two cameras a Canon 7D and a Canon 5D MK III. Four lenses Canon 24-105mm f/4 L series, Canon 17-40mm f/4 L series, Canon 70-200mm MK II f/2.8 L Series and Canon EF MK II 50mm, Canon Speed light 600 EX-RT and several spare batteries for Cameras and Speedlights and loads of CF Cards.Feedback
You have to do your home work very good before you go for any type of shoot. Know the place before going to shoot, meet the model before the shoot if it is your first time working with her as it helps you breaking the ice as well. Get inspired by other photogrsphers work but don't copy, try to come out with something more creative.
