Location
This is along the road from Keystone Resort, Colorado and the small town of Montezuma. The small stream is named the Snake River and is unrelated to the more famous river of Wyoming.Time
This is about 8 AM in late winter.Lighting
The sun shines down a long valley and is just clearing the mountains near Montezuma.Equipment
The image was taken with a Nikon D800 and 70-200 Nikon zoom lens. I prefer to work from a tripod for this type of scene, but the road was narrow and the temperature below zero (F) and I worked more quickly from the road side this time.Inspiration
My daughter and I were snowshoeing near Montezuma and had seen the beautiful light the previous day.Editing
The management of the strong contrast of the dark trees and lighter snow was the main post-processing with multiple masks with the adjustment brush in Lightroom.In my camera bag
I have Nikon lenses from 14-25 to 500 mm. For trips, like a day of snowshoeing, I will carry 24-70 and 70-200.Feedback
