I took this photo at home, in my own backyard.Time
I remember this was around sunset, on a weekend. My family and I were having lunch and my cat was looking in wanting to join us. She took this very cute position and I just couldn't resist.Lighting
This was a spontaneous photo (as you do with pets) so I didn't have any say in the lighting. It was around sundown, the sun was behind the house so there was no direct lighting or backlighting. It resulted in a blue hue.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D5000 and a 55-300mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I love cats - big surprise. I see them do many cute and funny things. So I'm just glad I had my camera nearby so that I can snap this shot. This just goes to show that you don't have to go far to take a picture you like.Editing
I didn't use a lot of post-processing, only basic light and contrast adjustments. In my camera bag
The most important thing is of course my Nikon D5000 with the kit lens. I then pack my 55-300mm lens. Other than that I usually take my grey cards and a glass lens ball for potential creative photos.Feedback
Just be present. In my mind, to be present doesn't mean not taking photos. It's the other way around. I believe that being present allows you to notice the things that you want to capture and a photograph like this maybe takes a second to immortalise which you can enjoy forever.
