Hale Lighthouse that you see standing today dates
from 1906. It replaced a shorter tower built seventy
years earlier around 1838. The tower is 45ft high,
even with it being so small the lamp's beam could
be seen from as far away as forty miles.

The lighthouse was last used in 1958 when it was
decomissioned. The main lamp-light now stands in The -
Merseyside Mariitime museum in Liverpool, located a the
Albert dock.

The Lighthouse is situated on the banks of the River -
Mersey, and can be seen for many miles.
Walkers, Ramblers and tourists to Hale Village often make
a beeline for the shore where the lighthouse now is.
It sits pround on the sandstone cliffs, and the whitewashed
needle pin tower points sky high'
