Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my home city Liverpool. At the time my car was broke and i was unable to get to my usual locations, so i headed into the city to see what i could find. I had walked past this many of time while shopping and the angles are what drew my eye to it every time.

Time

This was image was taken just before midday. on the day it was overcast so i headed to this area which is under a glass roof.

Lighting

on the day it was overcast and the light was quite diffuse which lent it self quite nice for this shot as there where no harsh shadows around.

Equipment

Canon 5DMIII Canon 16-35mm F4L shot at 24mm handheld

Inspiration

It was the angles, i really like them and i look for the same when im doing landscapes. in this case i didn't have to wait long before i found the right angle and then it was sheer luck that two people where black and white tops where coming up the escalator stood behind each other.

Editing

There wasn't much to to do in post, i converted it to mono and increased the contrast and used slight curve to bring out the shadows a little.

In my camera bag

i only own two lenses so they are are with all the time. i use a lowepro photosport 300 that holds my canon 5Dmiii, 16-35mmF4L , canon 70-200mm F2.8L , and a bunch of Lee filters for my landscape work.

Feedback

pay attention to everything, keep the camera in the bag till you have walked around and had a look. i used the same approach when shooting landscapes take your time make sure everything is there to make a great image. revisit the same spot over and over again in different lighting conditions to see how the light falls on the subject.
