Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from my local golf course club house veranda, I’m a self taught photographer and I am always looking for beauty to photograph so when i saw the sky I couldn’t miss this opportunity.

Time

This is probably one of my favourite sunset images, I remember looking out of the golf club window at around 4pm while eating a beautiful Sunday roast. I just wanted to get outside and get a shot of the beautiful sky I was looking at, almost rushing the last few mouthfuls so I could get outside before the sun had moved further. This photo was taken at around 4:30pm around November 2017.

Lighting

I loved how the sky almost seemlessly blended from a rich blue to a golden yellow so the time of year was perfect.

Equipment

This image was shot on an iPhone 6 as that was the only thing I had to hand. In some circumstances you Just don’t have your camera or equipment on hand and a camera phone does come in handy on these occasions.

Inspiration

Our planet is a thing of great beauty and all around us everyday beautiful things happen. The beautiful scenery’s alone are what inspire me to take photographs like this.

Editing

I used Adobe Lightroom to lower the exposure of the sun to bring out the golden hues more and dropped the exposure of the tree line slightly as the silouhette look is a guilty pleasure of mine to photograph

In my camera bag

Along with my Sony a65 my 50mm prime lens is always first in my bag, the images from that lens are so sharp and the lens is quite small. It also give me the challenge of shooting at a set focal length which I’m enjoying practicing with atm.

Feedback

As the sun starts to set it becomes a race against time, whilst I was still eating my lunch in this particular shot I was planning when where and how I wanted the shot. Nature doesn’t stop for you to take a photograph so you need to plan ahead as best you can so you can hit that shutter at just the right moment
