This past October I was on a road trip around the Eastern U.S. and my last stop before coming back home to Houston was Memphis, Tennessee. I would have preferred to go to Graceland, the home of Elvis, but admission is something like $50, plus $10 parking. And given that my road trip covered a number of other states over two and a half weeks, I just didn't have that kind of money. Admission to the zoo, by contrast, was $15, plus $5 for parking. And as much as I would have liked to visit Graceland, I was glad I got to see the zoo, if only because a number of the animals I saw were wonderfully active, like these lions.
