Not long after purchasing a used Canon 600mm f-4 IS, I went out to Boca Grande, FL to see if I could get some photos of the Osprey that nest above the beach. It was just after sunrise when I spotted this Peregrine Falcon with a fresh kill (a Catbird). The falcon was very accommodating as I worked my way around him for better light. Glad I had the 600mm, but not used to the big prime lens, I shot with and without teleconverters, moving closer and ultimately backing up because I was too close (for the lens, not the Falcon). He showed no signs of irritation with me, or even that he noticed me crawling around in the sand. Hand-holding that big lens proved to be a challenge, but well worth the effort to be eye level with this beautiful bird in his natural habitat.
