This is the left sundog there was one on the right as well. These lined up with the sun opposite of each other. There can be 1,2, or 3 sundogs, with the third being above the sun. At times you can see the halo that the sundogs form on around the sun. They can be small round shapes and at times look a bit like a rainbow without all the colors, usually red, orange, and yellow fading off to white, like this photo. The right one faded faster than the left, there was more haze(ice crystals) on the left side.
