Location
This is the Cavern Cascade at Watkins Glen State Park in Watkins Glen Ny.Time
This was probably taken around late morning to mid afternoon.Lighting
All natural lighting. The glen is pretty low light in spots so a long shutter speed or higher ISO are necessary. I prefer the long shutter speed.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon D7000 and Tamron 70-300 4-5.6 VC at 70mm on a vanguard aluminum tripod. I believe I may have had a cp filter on the lens.Inspiration
You can't walk around Watkins Glen without being inspired to take photos. But what I like about the shot is the flow (no pun intended) of the picture. The stairs lead the eye up to the heart like shape which takes you to the waterfall in the center and back up and around to the other side.Editing
Just basic adjustments like contrast and sharpening and removing people. In my camera bag
Now I have a Nikon D610 and D7200 in my bag. Still using the same Vanguard tripod, which is starting to get a little old. I use an RRS BH-55 ball head on the tripod.Feedback
Go as early in the morning as possible before the crowds get there. It is nearly impossible to get a shot without people being in the shot. If you are there later, be patient and wait for there to be few to no people which may take a while. There are ways of removing people in post.
