Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at home, i just got my 50mm 1.4F lens and i would like to try shooting with shallow DOF.

Time

This photo was taken around 7pm in the evening.

Lighting

i used one speedlight with shoot through umbrella, camera right, this was shot using the high speed sync setting with yuongnuo trigger/receiver for nikon, apperture was F2. shutter speed was 1/6400

Equipment

This was shot with Nikong D800e with Nikkor 50mm, 1.4F, flash used was nikon SB800 with yuongnuo trigger and shoot through umbrella.

Inspiration

i was excited to shoot outdoor in broad daylight using speed light with shallow DOF, and when i received the lens and the triggers i ordered online i decided to give it a try and asked my daughter to pose for me, so there it is, it worked.

Editing

I did some minor retouch on the skin and converted it to black and white, that's it.

In my camera bag

I usually have my 50mm 1.4f and my 20mm 1.8f plus my ND filter

Feedback

shooting portraits outdoor with flash sometimes is challenging if you want to shoot with shallow DOF a good trigger with high speed sync is recommended, ND filters are good too.
