Behind The Lens
Location
Nevada City , California, was known as the Queen on the Northern Mines during the California Gold Rush era. Today the town has gone to great lengths to preserve its history. This door to a hardrock mine is one of the historic displays featured in Ithe town.Time
I carry my camera every where. The hot Nafternoon sun lit up the rust on the door.Lighting
Natural light. Cloudless day.Equipment
Canon T1i, 55mm lens, 1/250, f/4.0, handheldInspiration
It's a piece of history.Editing
I used both HDR and local tone mapping to give intensity to the image. In my camera bag
Unless I'm on a formal shoot, I just carry my camera and my favorite Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS lens, 1:4-5.6 with a polarizing lens.Feedback
Carry your camera with you like an unconcealed weapon. Be ready to shoot. Lens cap off, camera on standby. Preset the exposure for wherever you are. I've missed too many fleeting opportunities because my camera wasn't ready. Use your eyes. See what others don't see.
