Taken at the Otjitotongwe Cheetah guest farm in Namibia. This sanctuary relocates and saves cheetahs from being killed by farmers. The Cheetah sometimes infiltrates farm lands and kill livestock. At this point, the farmers have no choice but to kill the cheetah, otherwise, they will completely decimate their livestock populations. This "farm" was created to give those wild cheetah a place to live out the rest of their days. The farmers win because they don't have to kill a magnificent creature, the cheetahs win because they don't get killed and the "farm" wins because they have a large cheetah community that they can help.
There were 5 cheetahs that were born into captivity when we went to visit. This is one of them, as such, they are familiar and comfortable around humans. This doesn't mean they're not dangerous, as they certainly can be, but they are at least relaxed around them (assuming you aren't wearing anything shiny or a hat, which they will think is a toy) I did pet this one, but nearly soiled myself as i did so.
