Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in my backyard, being a self taught photographer, ever shot is a new chapter in my book of experiences.

Time

I remember the hustle of the birds from the same family, at the time when the shot was taken. I was lucky enough to get one vivid expression captured on my camera. The shot was taken in afternoon, when birds are in search of food. The expression looks like the bird was busy exploring food and I was occupying their time and space.

Lighting

I often hear the photography is all about controlled lighting conditions in which the shot is to be taken. I believe, sometimes, rather than focusing on the main parameters, the subject itself stands out in the image. Because being a living being we can easily connect to the natural surroundings, the way they are, untouched and not manipulated.

Equipment

This was shot on one of my first basic DSLR, Nikon D3300, with a zoom lens without using any other gear.

Inspiration

I am really inspired by the surrounding nature any try to portray my native surroundings in most interesting way. Pursuing this aim, I try to photograph the same subject multiple times. Still I am looking for opportunities to go some good landscape destinations, but not being there should not stop my passion for photography. This has been my inspiration since its my first shot of the kind and due to this I have shot many of my photos at my home only. This shot in particular is an inspiration in itself.

Editing

Personally, I believe that post processing does do marvellous jobs in some cases, but in this shot, I did not performed any post processing. The shot was so self sustained that I believed that this truly depicts the nature in its raw form. We already have intrigued with natural life, I did not fell the need to retouch this one.

In my camera bag

I carry Nikon D3300 with one basic, one telephoto and one micro prime lens. Nikkor 18-55mm, nikkor 55-300, nikkor 40mm. This kit provides me with enough confidence that I can capture a good range of shots, just enough for my taste of photography.

Feedback

Since the shot is of my backyard, on first hand I thought this is not the one which people will like, but on uploading it to a community like Viewbug, I realised that this is probably on of my best clicks. What I have gained from this is that not only some beautiful destinations compose a good shot but also sometimes a simple photo can do the wonders. I now believe it’s just about composing what one likes the most, like in my case I like the biotic components around me. So, my love for this is what gets conveyed from the shot. We should not be photographing what others will like, we should be pursuing what we like.
