Location
This photo was taken at the ruins of the ancient castle of Porto Venere near Genova; a magical place on sitting on very high cliffs of black and white limestone just above the raging waters of the Genova gulf, one of the most iconic places in ItalyTime
The sunset is the best time to visit this place, you can see long shadows cast on sea waters and all the ruins painted in hundreeds shades of red. Unique and very challenging to capture by photographers!Lighting
The lightning was composed by the fading daylight and a small lamp casting over the model subject giving this peculiar ethereal effect on the silhouette.Equipment
This picture was taken on free hand as I use to during street photography sessionsInspiration
We were just passing by and taking few shots near the ruins when we stumbled upon this ancient gate remnants, a quick set up and blow of wind on her blond hairs and the work was done!Editing
The post processing involved taking back details from underexposed pavements and contrasting the silhouette of the subject. A job made more difficult by the amount of noise i found during the process. In my camera bag
I normally bring only my cam and some various range lenses, usually i go by hand but in some conditions there may be need for more still shots so a small tripod may be handy!Feedback
Dont look for the perfect shot or for the postcard shot, never ever! Do what you feel on the moment and follow the flow, models give the best without and advice, natural shots are the best ones for me, I really don't like to build a scene!
