Behind The Lens

Location
The photo was taken at my model place. She had a reparation in her flat, so the space in the room was free - we could do anything we wanted. So, we took this old armchair from the hall and put it near the window - ideal place for sitting and meditating...
Time
It was almost 4 pm. when we started our photoshoot. I came to her approx. on 2,30 pm, we discussed all the ideas for photoshoot, than checked the place and began creating cozy surrounding for my model.
Lighting
As we shooted near the window, we haven’t problems with natural lighting and we didn't need to adjust it in time. We took the Christmas lightings with us to add the light in the shadows. Here we have a warm photo with combined light, that makes feel us in a cozy place.
Equipment
This was shot on NIKON D700, with a 50mm Nikkor lens, shutter speed 1/125
Inspiration
I sam my model's cat - beautiful fluffy white "ball' like a cloud. As I took with me the Christmas lightings and we prepared to shoot nudes, the idea to pose with cat came to me and my model at the same time. The old armchair, that was standing in the hall (so lonely) inspired for an almost empty pict - a woman, sitting on it, holding a fluffy white cat, looking through the big window, surrounded by mysterious and warm light. It felt like she was waiting for a miracle, that always happens in the Christmas eve.
Editing
The only think that I did in post-production was color correction in Lightroom. The model was perfect and she didn't need any changes in Photoshop.
In my camera bag
I have no too much photo equipment. So, my best friend Nikon D700 is always with me, with 50 f/1.8 lens. Sometimes I take the flash and reflector. That's all!
Feedback
First of all, prepare the brief for your photoshoot. You’ll know what exactly you need: the location, staff, equipment, model’s clothes (if needed). But if you find smth that wasn't planned - don't be afraid to use it. For example, furniture... Or cat ;) Combine colors in one tone - warm with warm, cold with cold. Don't mix them.
