Tre'r Ceiri (translation: Town Of the Giants) is an Iron Age hillfort sited 450 metres above sea on an exposed peak of Yr Eifl on the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, North Wales.
This site is one of the best preserved and most densely occupied hillforts in Britain. Its stone wales surviving to their original height in places enclosing over 150 visible stone houses.
The Iron Age fort is likely to have housed around 100 people whom lived in an estimated 20 stone houses.
During the Romano-British period, the fort grew into the equivalent of a large village-small town with an estimated 400 inhabitants.
After a walk to the peak of Yr Eifl (translation: The Strides - The Forks) from the village of Llithfaen, this view was captured before the low cloud rolled in to cover the peaks. In the distance, the seaside resort of Abersoch and the St Tudwal's islands are bathed in sunshine.
