"The best camera is the one with you", or so the saying goes. However, I'd imagine that all of us have come across a time where something was left behind, and if Murphy's Law is consistent..that "something" would have made the shot a little easier, a little nicer, or come out in a way that we previously imagined.

I'd like to share with you, a moment if you will. This shot was taken just after I'd returned from a particularly long trip of doing travel photography abroad. Upon my return, my cat, Frida was unusually attentive, and wouldn't leave the bag for anything longer than to feed or tend to nature's call. I think she didn't want to be left behind again.

While I would never consider Frida "equipment", I would have been able to make shots far more personally valuable if she were in them... but when you're going to the top of an active volcano, into the Malaria-ridden forests of a "Developing" nation, Frida was never going better off by accompanying me.

Photography can entice us all away from our homes, our heavier-bulkier gear, and our loved ones. Make sure that you stay safe so that you can return and continue to appreciate what you have left behind.
