An unnamed Cymbidium in my friend Michael’s garden. A survivor from an earlier time, it has an open form, fairly large size and a color which typifies the attempt to bring interest into the large flowered but pale hybrids of that time by crossing them with small flowered and nicely colored but often oddly shaped species or hybrids.
There is an interest in that kind of breeding again now but with the intentions of yielding smaller flowers and with even darker or brighter colors.
