Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while walking along the side of the road on my way to a different site to photograph wildlife in Campeche, Mexico

Time

It was late for the birdwatching I wanted to do. I usually start around 7 in the morning but this was shot closer to 9

Lighting

Natural lighting with rays of sunlight peeking through the branches of the mangroves

Equipment

photographed with a Nikon D7100 with a Nikkor 70 - 300 mm telephoto zoom

Inspiration

I remember how excited I was to see this small heron in the trees and just began shooting and slowly inching my way closer. I was surprised he showed no fear and let me photograph him for some time before I got tired of shooting him. I moved on and he was still perched in the same spot unphased by my presence

Editing

typical post processing in Lightroom. Cropped for subject and composition

In my camera bag

My Nikon D7100 60 mm Nikkor Macro lens 18 - 140 Nikkor normal lens 70 - 300 Nikkor telephoto zoom 10 - 20 Sigma ultra wide angle zoom

Feedback

Always keep your eyes open. Don't forget to turn around every now and then because maybe the best shot is just behind you
