This incredible sunset is simply the most beautiful and awe inspiring sky I've ever seen. The sky looked to be on fire! We were visiting friends in Rockhampton Australia and the beginnings of the sunset lured me away from dinner with my first little digital camera. It was just a small Olympus with a built in zoom. I don't even remember what the mpx were, probably three to five or so.. This image has not been edited in any way except to resize for uploading. I did not enhance the color or contrast. This is as it came out of the camera.

This incredible sunset is simply the most beautiful and awe inspiring sky I've ever seen. The sky looked to be on fire! We were visiting friends in Rockhampton and the beginnings of the sunset lured me away from dinner with my first little digital camera.Lighting
An incredible sunset that turned the clouds into molten lava.Equipment
This was taken with my very first little digital camera back in 2001, a small Olympus C2500L that was released in 1999. This camera boasted 2.5mpx!!!!!!! Incredible how things have changed in seventeen years.Inspiration
The cloud formations and approaching sunset looked like it would be interesting so I grabbed my new Olympus and went out to the nearby pond to take some pics. The tree is a beautiful eucalyptus that are ubiquitous in that part of the worldEditing
The truly amazing thing about this picture is that there is no post processing at all except to resize for uploading. I did not enhance the color or contrast in any way, this is as it came out of the camera and the actuality of this sunset was even more incredible. As I said, I've never seen its like sinceIn my camera bag
I always have my Canon 1Ds Mk III and 7DII with me, I normally shoot with a 24/105 for most of my landscape photography. I also have a 100/400, 100mm macro lens and a 600 f4 IS II. I also keep a flash, shutter release and filters, lightweight and heavyweight Gitzo tripods, with ball head and a Wimberley Gimbal head for the big telephoto.Feedback
Always have your camera equipment near to hand and ready to go. If you think something might be a good subject, go for it (I saw the sky building up to this and left the dinner table! My friends are understanding of my camera passion) Give yourself time when you have it but just go and shoot if there is no time to plan as this case was.
