Living in the city means finding dead creatures. This poor dove lay near my apartment in Cape Town, and it left me with a sense that our bodies are garments left behind and wanted to immortalise this common city dove’s beautiful monochromatic plumage, it was so delicate and understated.Time
It was about 8.30 in the morning with a weak wintery sun.Lighting
Always try to take photos with light - be it sun shine, or moon light, or a reflection - this always creates life and depth in a photo and is always the difference between a picture and a great picture.Equipment
Shot this with my old iPhone 6 Plus.Inspiration
it was sad to see the dead bird, lying there unmourned and wanted to immortalise it and the moment for myself.Editing
no processing.In my camera bag
Just my trusty iPhone. I take my Nikon only when I go on a proper holiday.Feedback
Being a designer I find remarkable things in the close ups and details, the beauty of tiny details is often overlooked, so look beyond "just a dead bird, a big mountain, get up close in a cloud , or texture on a tree , a droplet on a berry , try looking really close for a few days and experience another world.
