Surf scrapes the rock,
yet softy still it grinds,
Bits of micro stone
washed away fine,
Wave after wave,
ocean assaults the cliff,
We crouch on the beach,
watching the skirmish,
It's harsh even in the slow melt,
patient and strong,
We view its power,
and hear its lonely song

I have only seen crashing waves on rocks like this on the east Coast of Canada in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. I love to hear that crashing as I drift off to sleep.
