This photo was taken in Washington Island in Door county Wisconsin, USA. My family and I were there for just one day to see the fall colors.Time
This image was taken late afternoon.Lighting
I spent a week in Door county and a day in Washington Island and it rained the entire week. On this particular day we were driving around the island aimlessly just enjoying the fall colors on a gloomy day. And we chanced upon this road the trees that lined the road had the most awesome colors and the overcast sky made the color really pop. The road was through a forested area and at the end was an opening that allowed for light to come through so I took the shot from the shadows looking towards the light as that helped bring the colors of the trees to life.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000 with a 18-150mm lens, I didn’t use any flash and let the natural light play its part.Inspiration
Fall in Wisconsin is a beautiful time of year the trees change color from green to yellow to orange red and amber. Nature really puts on a show. This scene really inspired me as not only were the trees ablaze the road was covered with fallen leaves and the tracks left by passing cars really led u into the scene and that’s what grabbed my interest.Editing
This image is as shot with a slight adjustment to the white balance and a tad bit of saturation. In my camera bag
A Nikon D7000 along with three lenses. A Nikon macro lens a wide angle lens and a Nikon 200-500mm lens. As I do a lot of bird photography too. I like to have all three lens with me so that I am ready if an opportunity presents itself.Feedback
While photographing a scene make sure to look all around you to find the best direction to shoot from, try different angles like eye level or from low down. Try shooting from either side of the path and even the middle. Each angle will change your image and try a few different angles as sometimes the one you think may not be too good could surprise u and be the winner. Most importantly have fun and Happy Photographing !!
