Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture just outside of Renfrew, Ontario, CA.

Time

I was out with a photographer friend who was visiting. I got them up early so we could catch the sunrise in Renfrew and get some pictures. As we were driving in the fog at about 7 a.m. or so on an October morning, we saw a place that he wanted to stop at and get a couple of pictures. When he got back into the car I drove and around the next bend was this beautiful sun coming up through the fog. I stopped and got this picture along with a few more. I love the way this one turned out.

Lighting

I liked the light the sun provided to the fog that gave the mysterious look and mist to this photo.

Equipment

This shot was taken with my Olympus

Inspiration

I liked the way the sun was coming through the fog and how it looked like it was just coming up over the horizon. I liked the way it made the trees look and the the mystery of what was actually there. You can actually see some trees in front of the sun so it makes you wonder what was between the sun and the trees in the front of the photo.

Editing

I didn't have to do much to this. I just lightened it a bit.

In my camera bag

I carry my Sony 7rii, with the Sony 24-240mm lens. In the bag I have my Prime 50 mm lens, my Nikon Coolpix 900, a tripod, some extra batteries and my flash for the Sony. I like taking pictures of all kinds of things so I carry the Coolpix to get some of the wildlife or birds close.

Feedback

Fog happens when the cold air meets the warm air so there is lots of opportunity to get out there and take pictures. The fog provides a lot of mystery by itself and can provide that anywhere in the world. Getting up early to get the sun shots helps to get this kind of shot. Be patient.
